The majority of our diet includes a lot of flour and flour-based products, from our boiled and fried dumplings to our bread, bulla, bun, and crackers.
These foods are included in our Staples food group. What are we going to do when this price increase takes place??
I propose that we increase our intake of ground provision in our diet. This means our, green bananas, sweet and Irish potatoes, yams, coco, dasheen, and pumpkin as well as alternating with rice and pasta.
Eating flour gives us a feeling of satiety, we are used to it and most times we used the processed flour. In comparison to our ground provisions, which contain fiber, are unprocessed and overall just better for us.
We also have ready access to these foods. There really should be little to no issue of Jamaicans being able to substitute or be able to find a major staple in their diet.
That's my two cents.
What are you going to do when the price of flour increases? Will you still purchase the same amount or less?
